Audible annual memberships cannot put their accounts on a monthly hold.
Monthly Audible membership plans can be placed on hold once every 12 months for a duration of up to three months. During this time you will not be billed your monthly membership fee. To place your account on hold, please contact Customer Care.
You will still have access to many of your benefits while on hold such as:
Your Audible/Amazon account remains active regardless of your membership status. Therefore, any previously purchased content will still be yours! You can log in and access your online library from either the Audible desktop site or any of our mobile applications.
If you find yourself running out of credits too quickly, you can switch your membership plan to one that includes more credits, or occasionally purchase extra credits online.

Listening to Audible audiobooks with iTunes is easy! To get started:
Your audiobook purchases are located under the Cloud tab in your library in the Audible app. If you experience problems finding a recently-made purchase, it may be because of one of the following reasons:
Refreshing your application:
If you have a gear icon in your app, your audiobook(s) should now appear under the Cloud tab by tapping My Library followed by Cloud
Your title should appear at the top of the screen with a at the lower right corner of the audiobook.
Signing in to the correct account:
In the Audible apps, you can filter or sort your library in the Cloud or Device tabs. Your audiobook may not be showing up because you have selected a specific filter, or are sorting your content in a certain way.

The Audible for iOS app allows you to download, rate, and listen to purchased Audible audiobooks as well as add titles to your wish list to purchase later. Below you find instructions on how to download and listen to your content.
Before listening, you must download your audiobook. Purchased content can be found in the "Cloud" tab. Follow the steps below to begin downloading.
Tip: You can cancel your download by tapping the X icon next to the audiobook you are downloading.

Note:In order to download an audiobook, you will need to have a stable Wi-Fi or Cellular data connection. Once the audiobook is download you will be able to listen regardless of internet connection. If your download stopped because of a connection issue, tap on it again to resume downloading once a connection is available.
After you have downloaded your audiobook, follow the steps below to begin listening
Audible audiobooks downloaded from the Cloud will be located on the Device tab of My Library. Audiobooks synced to your device using iTunes on your computer can be found on the iTunes tab. Simply tap the audiobook to begin listening.
Note: For audiobooks broken in to multiple parts, tap the name of the title first, and then tap the desired part.

Yes! You do not need an Audible membership to purchase audiobooks through either the Audible or Amazon web sites. However, you will be paying full retail price for the audiobooks, as opposed to using Audible membership benefits, such as:
Audiobooks purchased in error, or those you are dissatisfied with after listening, can be returned as opposed to exchanged. When returning an audiobook, you will be issued a refund in the same form of payment initially used. For example, if you accidentally purchased a book that cost £5.00, you can return that item and receive £5.00 back.

In order to download your audiobook to your Windows computer, you will need to download Audible Download Manager and configure it to import your audiobooks to iTunes, Windows Media Player, or the AudibleManager player. Below are instructions on configuring Audible Download Manager to get started downloading:
Tip: For customers using Windows 10, it is highly recommended to download the free Audible app to download and listen to your audiobooks instead of downloading Audible Download Manager software. The audible app includes many additional features not available using the method provided below. Some features include:

Downloading using Audible Download Manager:
Audible Download Manager will open automatically and display the download progress of the audiobook. After downloading your audiobook, it will be playable in the player you chose to import the file to.
You can still share the Audible experience with your friends using our gift membership, no strings attached. Gift membership recipients can choose any Audible title they like, but you are welcome to share personal recommendations as part of your gift. Using the Send This Book feature, you can give a specific book in your library to friends and family. If it is your recipient's first time accepting an audiobook through this feature, it will be free for her/him.
The Daily Deal is a special sale for all customers (even non-members!) where one audiobook a day is discounted. The audiobook changes every day, but you can keep track of the day's deal by subscribing to the Daily Deal newsletter!

It is important to note that customers who sign into Audible using a username (e.g. John123) would need to merge that account to their Amazon account in order to be able to listen to their audiobooks on an Alexa device. The Echos' and Tap do not support Audible username accounts.
